Black Moon A Black Moon is a non-astronomical term for a rare, invisible New Moon occurring either as the second new moon in a single calendar month (similar to a Blue Moon) or the third new moon in a season with four. Because the Moon is between Earth and the Sun, its illuminated side faces away, making it invisible to the naked eye, with such events occurring roughly every 29 to 33 months. Blue Moon A Blue Moon is the third full moon in an astronomical season containing four full moons (seasonal) or, more commonly, the second full moon in a single calendar month. Occurring roughly every 2.5 to 3 years, it does not actually appear blue in color. Micro moon vs Supermoon A Supermoon is a full (or new) moon that coincides with the moon's closest approach to Earth in its orbit, known as perigee. This alignment makes the moon appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than a typical full moon. These events occur 3-4 times a year, often causing higher-than-normal tides.
